Sometimes waiting a little while can be just worth it. At least, that is what we think Leeds-based producer, Favela, must have thought when he released his first original song in 11 months. With Gong being released just in time to shepherd in the new year, perhaps this will signal more to come from this promising artist in the later months.
I love how the song has such a high replay value; it definitely isn’t something that should be heard on a set of speakers. There are so many little details that are slipped in behind the waves of cascading guitars and twitchy percussion that would be so easy to miss without headphones. Near the end, I started to hear little quiet twinkles of piano notes individually sprinkled underneath and in the chorus, I enjoyed these splashes of guitar that broke away from the dreamy, backbone melody. These little nuanced textures add some character to the song and I’m so excited for more of his music to come out.
