Frank Ocean, Mick Jones, Paul Simonon and Diplo – Hero (Converse Collaboration)

Yes, they are on the same song together.

It takes something special to fuse different styles, genres and generations together; a collision course is the most likely destination. But maybe on this collaboration it bucks the trend, with two members of The Clash, a beat prodigy and an R&B whizz-kid coming together to produce something different. What comes out seems unforced and almost akin to a jam session if anything. The song initially takes some time to build into a rhythm, but the additional backing vocals provided from the West Los Angeles Children’s Choir seem to add the cohesion needed to make it a successful collaboration. What makes it even better is that the song is free to download here. Enjoy.

  1. I enjoyed that and had a listen to Paolo track yesterday and thought that was fantastic. It’s a far cry from when we saw him in concert at T in the park and he couldn’t see straight or really be understood. The track is clear and love the style of the song too.Is his album out yet and are the other songs like that one? Where are you finding all these songs? As usual loving your work. X

    1. His album isn’t out yet, I’m afraid. Caustic Love (the album) is getting released in early April; surprisingly, Iron Sky isn’t the lead single so I have no idea what kind of album it’ll be – Soul/Funk?
